History
Built by Lord d’Aydie between 1550 and 1582, Château de Monbazillac is a jewel like no other. Listed as a historic monument in 1941, its architecture is typical of the late Middle Ages and early Renaissance. It has been marvellously preserved, spared from the ravages of war and conflict, and Château de Monbazillac is now one of Dordogne’s must-see wine tourism sites.

What will I discover and learn during my visit?
There are three stages to the visit: an immersive exhibit on Monbazillac wines, history and art exhibitions, and a tasting session. The visit lasts an average of 1.5 hours. For all the information you need, you can pick up a paper guide at reception or download the audioguide on your mobile phone.
A Noble vin
300m² of exhibition space to learn all about Monbazillac wines. From the different types of soil to bottling, discover all the stages involved in making this famous dessert wine. Videos and interviews with winemakers take you right to the heart of the vineyard.
Exhibitions: Step back in time and discover the history of the chateau and its inhabitants.
Is the visit suitable for children? The answer is yes! The dynamic, immersive exhibitions will draw visitors of all ages into the different worlds showcased throughout the visit. For the wine side of things, there’s a special “Little Winemakers” area with a range of fun, interactive games to teach children how to make grape juice virtually. As a reward, they’ll be able to take home a personalised label, printed in the castle’s cellars!
For puzzle-lovers, our teams can also provide a game booklet, available from reception on request. Don’t forget your pen!
